The construction of clean energy base will promote the construction of ultra-high voltage power projects.
By the end of 2024, State Grid had completed 38 ultra-high-voltage (UHV) projects. Key UHV projects in multiple regions have been included in the 2025 provincial priority power grid construction plans, totaling 26 projects.
HOW
On December 31, 2025, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the National Energy Administration jointly issued the “Guidelines on Promoting High-Quality Development of Power Grids”, specifying that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–2030), total power grid investment will reach RMB 4.1 trillion, representing a 46.4% increase compared to the 14th Five-Year Plan. The average annual investment will be RMB 820 billion, marking the start of a super investment cycle in the power industry.
Concrete project plan: From 2025 to 2026, an average of 2–3 AC lines and 6 DC lines are expected to be approved and commence construction each year, supporting the continued high prosperity of the UHV industry
