As the world’s fastest-growing major economy, India continues to offer significant opportunities for Swedish companies. Rapid industrialisation, digital transformation, infrastructure investments, and a growing middle class continue to strengthen India’s position as an increasingly important market for trade, innovation, manufacturing, and long-term business operations.

At the same time, companies describe a more complex operating environment. Regulatory complexity, customs procedures, certification requirements such as Quality Control Orders (QCOs), and trade-related barriers continue to affect market access, compliance efforts, and operational efficiency.

Cooperation between Sweden and India remains strong within sectors such as industrial equipment, automotive, digital technologies, life sciences, clean energy, telecommunications, advanced manufacturing, and sustainable infrastructure. India’s continued investments in innovation, digitalisation, and green transition continue to create opportunities for Swedish companies offering sustainable and high-value solutions.

Competitiveness in India is closely linked to cost efficiency, product development, sales competence, partnerships, and strong local market understanding. The Swedish brand continues to be associated with quality, innovation, sustainability, and reliability.

India is widely regarded as an attractive long-term market with strong growth potential, a broad talent base, and an increasingly advanced business ecosystem. At the same time, companies continue to point to administrative complexity, regulatory unpredictability, and trade barriers as key challenges.
